Marsh Creek State Park

Marsh Creek State Park is a place we visit often. Are you are looking for a wonderful recreation area for hiking, kayaking, boating, picnicking and more? This park has it. There are many trails which are well used by hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers.

The east side of the park has a public pool, playground and Marsh Creek Water Sports, where boat and kayak rentals are available. During the summer Marsh Creek Water Sports offers kids’ camps, yoga classes, plus, boat and kayak tours. Our family sometimes rents motor boats or kayaks to use on Marsh Creek Lake.

Most of our visits to Marsh Creek are to hike. We often hike from the very small parking lot off Dorlan Mill Road. But, most of the trails are accessed from the west side boat launch on Reeds Road. Dogs love Marsh Creek because it’s easy for them to take a quick dip to cool off. With nearly 20 miles of trails we can hike something familiar for a quick hike or go out longer on trails we visit less frequently.

Recently we took Theo to Marsh Creek for practice walking on the leash while hiking. We did an approximately 1 mile loop from the Dorlan Mill lot on a trail through the woods that came out near the top of the dam.

I love Marsh Creek State Park for hiking, photography, or walking the dog. It’s a great place to be outdoors.
